Dr. Kenneth G. Varley received his medical education at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. After training in Internal Medicine, he completed his residency training in Anesthesiology at the University of Florida.
He is a Certified Consultant in Anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. He has obtained subspecialty certification in both critical care medicine as well as pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Minimally Invasive Spinal Medicine.
Dr. Varley has previously served as Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Manitoba and Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina. He is currently Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Alabama.
Dr. Varley is nationally recognized as a leading expert on Spinal Endoscopy and various Minimally Invasive Interventional Pain Medicine procedures. He is in high demand in national workshops that are offered to physicians who want to develop expertise and skills in these diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. Dr. Varley specializes in a variety of procedures including radiofrequency neuroablation, spinal endoscopy, laser discectomy, spinal cord stimulation and narcotic infusion pump implant.
Dr. Varley is a founding member and serves on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He is also President and Executive Director of the Alabama Society of Interventional Pain Physicians. He is licensed to practice medicine in Alabama, South Carolina and Arizona.

Dr. Andrew J. Rózsa is a licensed clinical psychologist with a medical psychology specialty and with a special interest in all pain conditions, job-related injuries, Myofascial Pain Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and stress-related disorders. His academic credentials include a Ph.D. from Florida State University (psychobiology), postdoctoral work in neurobiology at Stanford University School of Medicine and further post-doctoral specialization training in clinical psychology at Wright State University School of Professional Psychology and University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. He was on the faculty of Louisiana State University School of Medicine where he taught and performed research concerning the neurobiology of pain.
Dr. Rózsa has 25 scientific research publications in the areas of the psychophysics, neurobiology, neurophysiology, and neuroanatomy of pain. Over the last 20 years as a Certified Pain Practitioner, he has developed several successful pain management programs in the Birmingham area, the latest of which was involved with the treatment of soft-tissue injuries and myofascial pain disorders (MPS, Fibromyalgia). He has given dozens of lectures to health professionals and pain patients and has been guest on several radio and television shows discussing the treatment of pain patients. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management. |
